INSTITUTE OF MODERN LANGUAGES RESEARCH
University of London School of Advanced Study
Two fees-only bursaries are offered by the
Friends of Germanic Studies at the IMLR and the Bithell Bequest Fund to students who wish to pursue the Institute's innovative MRes in Modern Languages course in 2016-17 and write their dissertation on a German-related
topic. The 25,000-word dissertation gives students the scope to explore an area of interest in depth, allowing them to put into practice skills acquired on the research training skills and translation theory modules.
The flexible programme, leading to the University of London degree of Master of Research in Modern Languages, may be taken on a full-time basis over one year, or part-time over two. The languages currently covered
are French (including Francophone), German, Italian, and Spanish (including Latin American). The core course offers a distinctive element of translation theory in addition to research skills and training.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in German. Applications close at 5 pm on 31 August 2016.
