Call for Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor (tenured) in Computational Economics and Complex Systems Location: Department of Economics Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy Description: We invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or for a tenured Associate Professor with a focus on computational economics/finance, risk mitigation/management, complex networks, graph theory and their application to the analysis of large social and economic systems. Candidates should already be employed as permanent research staff in an academic institution or in a research center outside of Italy, at a level corresponding to the position sought. We welcome the ability to cross disciplinary boundaries and we will evaluate the long-term potential of the research agenda. The candidate will co-operate in a stimulating and diverse research environment, bringing together scholars from different fields with dedicated support from the initiative. Candidates with strong quantitative background in mathematics, engineering, computer science, economics, econometrics or physics are most welcome and equally fit for the post. A PhD in a relevant field of study is required. Applicants must demonstrate a record of published research in peer-reviewed outlets and the ability to teach effectively in BA, MA, and PhD programs. An innovative teaching record will be favorably considered. Teaching priorities are handled by the Department of Economics, although part-time involvement in other departments can be negotiated. Other requirements are experience working with classroom technology. The candidate must be willing to teach courses in both traditional and online environments. Duties: Successful applicants should teach in English at the undergraduate, Master’s and doctoral level. They are expected to achieve adequate Italian fluency for teaching courses in this language within three years. Regular duties include an annual teaching load of 90 hours at the Assistant level and 120 hours at the Associate level. Service for the Department includes mentoring students. Salary: The annual salary for Tenure Track Assistant Professor is 42.000 € (gross salary). The annual salary for Associate Professor is in the range 50.000 € – 75.000 € (gross salary) depending on academic position and qualification, and according to the standards established by the Italian Public University System.
