Melody Hoffman has just published a book, which many of you will be interested to know about. Having ordered one from the publisher's link last night (using the code below), it looks like $10 postage to the UK.

Pete

In a post to the Bike Equity Network list Melody says:

"My book, an updated version of my dissertation, is out now!

If you are not familiar with my dissertation, this project looks at the racial issues embedded in bicycle advocacy work in
three US cites (Portland, Milwaukee, Minneapolis). I discuss N Williams in Portland, Minneapolis bike share equity issues, and how white organizers can inadvertently create white bike events in Milwaukee.

I am really interested in getting this book into the hands of practitioners more than academics so please share this book info widely with your people.

Bruce Epperson left a very thorough and thoughtful review of my book on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Bike-Lanes-Are-White-Advocacy/dp/0803276788).

I encourage you to support my publisher directly and order from UNP. Use the code 6as16 for 30% off (makes it the same price as Amazon offers). (https://www.nebraskapress.unl.edu/product/Bike-Lanes-Are-White-Lanes,677153.aspx)

Sadly, the publisher couldn't include my pictures for the book but I have an ever-growing website dedicated to visuals complimenting each chapter. https://bikelaneswhitelanes.com/

Thanks for being such an inspiration to my work. I welcome your feedback.

Oh and for those of you rightfully steeped in BLM work, Chapter 5 does center the issue of Black bodies being in danger in public space as a huge barrier to doing our work. How can we promote bike equity when people are literally being killed for being in public spaces?

All the best,
Melody"
