It is (complex) structure factors versus (real) intensities (or amplitudes - this does not make a substantial difference). Right--I should have said "structure factors" rather than amplitudes. I guess I meant amplitudes with phases, which is what you describe. I did, in fact, get my hands on the paper as well! Thanks for the correction, Jacob
