The Nuffield Department of Population Health contains world renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within NDPH, the Health Economics Research Centre (HERC) is a thriving group of health economists/analysts, with a varied research programme and a well-established reputation as a centre of excellence.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic Researcher to contribute to a programme of work evaluating long-term health and economic outcomes of chronic disease/s and intervention/s to prevent/manage these diseases using large randomised controlled trials and observational cohorts and ensuring good quality data analysis, disease modelling and presentation of results. Programmes of work in the field of lipid modification therapy for reducing cardiovascular risk and/or a new diagnostic tool for liver disease will be the focus of the post in the first instance. The successful candidate will be supported to consolidate and further develop their research and analytic skills.

 

To be considered for this post you will have a master or doctorate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Epidemiology or other quantitative discipline) and interest in developing research portfolio in evaluative health/medicine field targeting improvements in people’s health. You will have strong analytic skills and an aptitude for high quality quantitative analyses (e.g. an experience in programming, including R, Stata or SAS; handling databases; developing (disease) models). Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role. Previous research in a relevant field is desirable but not essential.
