Working field: We expect
candidates to have an outstanding international record in research with photons
(in one or several wavelengths ranges up to X-rays), in the development of
experimental techniques and sources for ultrafast nanosciences to study
ultrafast dynamics from atomic to mesoscopic scales, e.g. with respect to
time-resolved imaging, multidimensional spectroscopy and microscopy, X-ray
optics und –techniques as well as other modern fields of optics and photonics.
The candidates’ research should show potential for innovations and co-operations;
they will be required to represent the field of experimental physics in
research and teaching and have a strong motivation to contribute to the
teaching in Physics, i.e. student lab work and courses in the Bachelor and
Master courses, as well as teaching Physics for Engineers at the Technische
Universität Berlin.
Requirements: Successful
applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level
in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed
academic education, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral
lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification and
pedagogical didactic quali- fications, to be proven by teaching experience and
visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website,

have a leading international role in the field of research described above
together with excellent academic qualifications supported by publications. We
expect experience in leading research groups and managing scientific projects,
experience in raising funds from national and international external sources as
well as the ability and willingness to co-operate in interdisciplinary research
pro- jects on national and international level. Candidates are required to have
competence and experience in teaching experi- mental physics on university
level, which have to be expressed together with ideas regarding research
oriented teaching in a “teaching portfolio” as part of the application. /
