[Please circulate to all those who might be interested, and accept our apologies if you received multiple copies of this announcement] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Abstracts/Participation for the METAHEURISTICS stream of the 58th Conference of the UK Operational Research Society (OR58) http://www.theorsociety.com/OR58/ University of Portsmouth, Portsmouth September 6-8, 2016 http://www.theorsociety.com/Pages/Conferences/OR58/streams/metaheuristics.as px Submission Deadline: 13 June 2016 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This stream welcomes abstracts and presentations on metaheuristics, from theory to practice, and including all flavours of approaches, such as, tabu search, simulated annealing, evolutionary algorithms, ant colony optimization, particle swarm optimization, or iterated local search. We particularly welcome papers that provide generalisable scientific insights, and papers that demonstrate some of the strengths of metaheuristics, such as, multi-objective optimisation, open-ended optimisation or optimisation under uncertainty, as well as papers on hyper-heuristics or the combination of metaheuristics with exact methods. The stream will provide an opportunity for the constructive exchange of ideas and will include a keynote presentation by Dr Jonathan Fieldsend from the University of Exeter. We will also organise a meeting to discuss the state of metaheuristic research in the UK. If you would like to give a talk in this stream, please submit a title and abstract of no more than 300 words via http://www.theorsociety.com/Pages/Conferences/OR58/OR58Abstract.aspx by selecting 'Metaheuristics' as the stream. (For those who are not familiar with the OR conferences, the usual procedure is to submit a title and an abstract, and then if accepted, to give a talk of 20-25 minutes. A full paper or extended abstract is not required.) If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
