medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture As I started ruminating on early legislation regarding clergy (which may or may not have been ecclesiastical councils, could in fact have been in 'secular' law codes?) I have another vague recollection about provisions concerning 'free' and 'unfree' priests in the early 'barbarian kingdoms'. Does anyone have knowledge of the sources for this?
