I am now gearing up to dispose of (almost) our entire book collection. The collection was built to support biomedical research, but (particualrly in earlier years) also covers public health, clinical medicine and chemistry titles.

I would like to invite librarians from universities, institutes and other appropriate* institutions to visit the library at Mill Hill and select items direct from our shelves to take away.

If you are interested, please look at this Google docs spreadsheet and then email [log in to unmask] to indicate on which day(s) you want to visit.  Most days shown in the spreadsheet have a morning and an afternoon time slot available. We can accommodate a maximum of four people at a time, so if there are four names already then that day is full.

You can see our main collection in the Library Catalogue:
http://heritweb.crick.ac.uk

Note that you should go to Advanced Search and limit media type to “Book” to exclude ebooks from the search results.

I have additionally prepared a list (attached) of our books that were published pre-1945, to give an idea of the older part of the collection.

A small number of books will be retained by the Crick labs, so I can’t  guarantee exactly which books will be available but that will be sorted out before your visit.

* The intention is that the books should go to collections where researchers can have access to them, not to private or commercial collections.
