I’d say definitely not – otherwise you could retrospectively link newly discovered Monuments to DBAs from ages ago which made no mention of them. I don’t often link DBAs to Monuments anyway unless a good deal of extra investigation has unearthed new information about that site (but I do create basic Event records for them as it’s useful to know what previous work has happened in an area).

Best wishes

Subject: Event and monument relationships

Hi all,

Just after some clarification on Event to Monument relationships.

If a DBA was undertaken that said there was no archaeology on a site, but a subsequent evaluation showed up archaeology does one link the DBA to the monument records? I presume not as the DBA has no connection to the monuments other than geography, but happy to be corrected or pushed in another direction. I am talking about events here rather than sources.

What do others do?

Thanks

Paul
