Dear List members We are advertising 3 research fellow positions at the Department of Earth Science, University of Bergen within the field of 2D and 3D geodynamic modeling of rift and passive margin formation linked with surface processes. The positions are for a period of three years and are affiliated to the collaborative project, “Coupling Lithosphere Deformation with Surface Processes and Stratigraphy (COLORS)” involving the universities of Bergen, Toulouse, Grenoble, GFZ, Barcelona, Rennes, and Total. Best regards, Ritske Huismans ------- Researcher 1: 2D and 3D geodynamic modelling of rift and rifted margin formation The successful candidate will be responsible for adapting and implementing 2D and 3D tectonic models. The main focus will be on using forward 2D and 3D models to understand: 1) rheological controls on basin configuration, 2) factors affecting oblique rifting, rift segmentation and rift propagation, 3) the associated topographic development, and 4) comparison with selected natural cases. Researcher 2: 2D and 3D geodynamic modelling of continental rifting and interaction with surface processes The successful candidate will be responsible for adapting and implementing 2D and 3D tectonic and surface process models. The main focus will be on using coupled forward 2D and 3D tectonic-surface process models to understand interaction and feedback of continental rifting and surface processes in extensional settings such as the Italian Apennines, Central Greece, and Gulf of Suez. Researcher 3: 2D and 3D geodynamic modelling of rifted margin formation and interaction with surface processes The successful candidate will be responsible for using coupled 2D and 3D tectonic-surface process models to understand interaction and feedback of rifted passive margin formation and surface processes in natural settings such as the Central and South Atlantic.
