Hi All!
As Chairperson of the Institute of Physics’
London and South East Branch I would like to invite you to the
FINAL of the IOP’s national science communication competition,
3 Minute Wonder
Date: Thurs May 5th 2016
Venue: The Royal Institution of Great
Britain, London
Time: 18:00–21:00
3 Minute Wonder (3MW) challenges
researchers in physics-related fields (industry or academia)
to explain their work to the public in - you've guessed it -
just three minutes. Participants are scored by a panel of
experts with points awarded for physics content, presentation
skill, level of engagement and entertainment value.
We have 10 early career researchers from
across the country ready to compete and our judging panel
consists of:
· Maggie Philbin (Tech Journalist,
CEO TeenTech)
· Fran Scott (Science Presenter,
CBBC)
· Marek Kukula (Public Astronomer,
Royal Observatory)
· Helen Thomas (BBC science,
producer)
It really is a great evening and a true
celebration of UK research
Should you be available on the 5th and
would like to attend then please do come along. So that we can
keep track of audience numbers please register by following
