Many thanks Doug - I didn't receive that follow up email so apologies to the list for wasting your time.

Hi John,

Thank you for sharing.

Karen also posted the following after the survey was inundated with responses:

Hello again everyone,

The survey link contained in this message below is no longer working because I have gotten so many responses!  What happened is that I have an individual account with the survey company where this survey was created, and I ran out of space for more responses.  While this is a good problem for me personally to have, I do apologize for any inconvenience on your parts.  I know that it is frustrating to click on a link and be told that the survey is unavailable.

This survey is now moving from my personal account to an institutional account that has unlimited space for responses.  I have been informed that this move could potentially take up to a week to happen, however.  So as soon as the survey is moved, I will send out another message with the new link to this same survey.

Many thanks again for your patience on this.  I am anxious to get all of your responses, so I hope you can still participate when the survey becomes available again with unlimited space for responses.

Best,

Karen

Kind Regards

Doug

Subject: [IFLA-L] International Librarianship Research Study

Hello fellow librarians around the world,

Please excuse any duplicate posting requests.  I am an academic librarian at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, in Canada.  I am inviting you to participate in a short online survey on “International Librarianship at Home and Abroad.”  The full survey consists of only 10 multiple choice questions.  You also have an opportunity to post comments as well.  I am happy to get feedback from American and Canadian librarians, but I would also like to encourage participation by librarians in other parts of the world as well.

You are under absolutely no obligation to participate.  Should you choose to participate, however, you would be helping the worldwide library profession better understand how international librarianship is viewed by practicing librarians.  You would also be helping to potentially identify some ways that international librarianship could be practiced in home settings.

Your potential involvement would only take 10-30 minutes or so.  It would consist of filling out a short online survey.  Your answers are anonymous, and no personal information is being collected.  You do not have to answer any question you do not want to, and you may withdraw at any time by closing the browser.  Please be aware, however, that it is not possible to retrieve or change your answers upon exiting.  The survey data is securely protected and it will be deleted by the researcher after one year.  Results may be disseminated through the publication of a book.

You are further welcome to participate in a follow-up 30-minute individual, in-person interview with the researcher during the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida in June, if you are attending and available.  Please note that this research study (both online survey and in-person interviews) are personal research only, and are not sponsored by or affiliated with ALA.  This study has received ethics clearance through Brock University’s Research Ethics Board (file #15-083-BORDONARO).  Should you have any questions about your rights as a research participant, please contact the Brock University Research Ethics Officer at (905)688-5550 extension 3035 or at [log in to unmask].

If you wish to receive feedback on this study, or if you would like to set up a personal individual interview to discuss this research topic further during ALA Annual in Orlando, please contact the principal investigator, Karen Bordonaro, at [log in to unmask].

Thank you very much!

Karen
