Dear Lis-Bibliometrics colleagues,

Further to the recent interest in the bibliometric competencies developed by Loughborough University, the Lis-Bibliometrics Committee are pleased to announce the availability of a small research grant, sponsored by Elsevier, to develop a community-supported set of bibliometric competencies.  This is a call for expressions of interest in undertaking this work.  It would be expected that the grant-holder would:

·         Work closely with the Lis-Bibliometrics community including attending a workshop on bibliometric competencies at the next Lis-Bibliometrics event on 27 June at Manchester Metropolitan University

·         Build on the recent bibliometric competencies work of Sabrina Petersohn (http://content.iospress.com/articles/education-for-information/efi972)

·         Create a set of basic/intermediate competencies for those supporting bibliometrics in libraries & related services

·         Report on their findings by the end of 2016

·         Deliver a session on the outcomes at a future Lis-Bibliometrics event

·         Receive a grant of £1,400 for undertaking this work

If you would be interested in taking on this exciting project, please email Elizabeth Gadd outlining your interest in this area, how you would propose going about the work, and any previous relevant experience of bibliometrics and project management/delivery, by 27 May 2016.  Informal enquiries are welcome. If there is considerable interest a formal call will be issued.

Best regards

Elizabeth
