Do you automatically embargo theses in your repository for a specific period of time? Have your PhD students had journal papers rejected by a publisher because the thesis is openly available in your repository? If so, how do you respond
to this situation?
Several of our PhD students have had potential articles rejected by journal publishers because the thesis upon which the article is based is openly available through the institutional repository. It would appear that publishers are using
plagiarism type software to check articles - mainly for possible plagiarism - but also to check not available elsewhere.
Thanks,
