Giancarlo De Cataldo’s
Nero come il cuore (2002), as well as his short story “Il bambino rapito dalla befana” (in
Crimini), and the short story by Carlotto “Morte di un confidente” (also in
Crimini) contain migrant characters.
Best wishes,

Dear colleagues,
I am trying to put together a list of contemporary Italian novels that feature immigrants as characters (not necessarily protagonists).
An example is Testimone inconsapevole, by Gianrico Carofiglio, where the a significant portion of the plot centres around the character of a Senegalese immigrant, wrongly accused of murder.
My main interest is in the crime genre, although not exclusively.
Many thanks!
Nicoletta
