Hi Rupinder

I had confirmation of this from the quals manager of the Education and Training Foundation who is administering QTLS.

AFAIK to teach ESOL in UK colleges you ideally need a Level 5 ESOL specialism or a CELTA etc but this is stipulated by the particular college rather than by law.

Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) is the FE equivalent of QTS and enables you to work as a qualified teacher in schools.

Hi Adil

Could you provide a source for this and clarify what qualifications are needed now to teach ESOL?

Kindest Regards,

Subject: QTLS status

Hi everyone,

I've just been made aware that from 1st September ESOL teachers will no longer require a Level 5 subject specialism to gain QTLS status.

Thought I'd share this as its great news for those who, like me, completed a CELTA instead of the Level 5 ESOL Specialism which was previously not accepted,  for some reason or other.
