Dear all,

thanks to all for the info.
Off-list it was also pointed out that phenix automatically saves the pdb file to hybrid36.
I used the phenix pdb.tools to save and renumber the combined (>100 000 atoms file) and coot seems to be very happy with the results.

Cheers
Marcus

Dear Marcus,

you have to rename the chain IDs for the small and large subunits to include S and L (see for example pdb entry 4UG0) to have unique names for each protein.

Best,

Bruno

Subject: [ccp4bb] Using coot with more than 100 000 atoms

Dear all,

I am working on a ribosome structure coot cuts my structure after 100 000 atoms. I heard the rumor that there is a way for coot to open a pdb file which contains more than 100 000 atoms.
However, I was not able to find anything so I would be happy if anyone could give me a pointer.

Cheers
Marcus
