2nd Summer School on Computational Interaction - Inference, optimization and modelling for the engineering of interactive systems

13th-18th June 2016, Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland

Hosted by the User Interfaces Group, Aalto University

The goal of the summer school is to bring computational tools to bear on enhancing interaction. This encompasses modelling of interaction, computer-assisted optimization of interfaces, applied machine learning and more. The summer school has a strong focus on developing applied skills. Therefore, it provides practical development sessions in the afternoon of each day and a one-day hackathon at the end of the week. In addition, participants will experience the Finnish summer in an exclusive evening program. The summer school is the successor of a highly appreciated first Summer School on Computational Interaction held in Glasgow in 2015.

Program:

Monday: Machine learning
Tuesday: Dynamics, Sensors and Shared Control
Wednesday: Touch and language models
Thursday: Gestural interaction
Friday: Computational rationality
Saturday: Hackathon

Speakers include:

•    Andrew Howes, University of Birmingham
•    Per Ola Kristensson, University of Cambridge
•    Otmar Hilliges, ETH Zurich
•    John Williamson, University of Glasgow
•    Roderick Murray-Smith, University of Glasgow
•    Antti Oulasvirta, Aalto University
