Dear Colleagues, There is still time to sign up for your free place at our Summer Seminar. The Archives and Records Association Section for New Professionals (SfNP) is holding its annual Summer Seminar networking event on Monday 13th June at Friends' Meeting House, Manchester. The event is free and open to all who are at the start of a career in archives, records management or conservation, both prospective and newly qualified – this includes non-ARA members. Please do forward this message to your volunteers, trainees, interns, and recently qualified staff, who might like to attend. This year's programme includes the launch of the new SfNP after the Section recently reviewed its mission. The Section exists to support those in the first five years of their career in the record keeping professions. This includes trainees, interns and recently qualified professionals, helping to bridge the gap between new professionals and the wider archive community. This year the event will feature talks from a variety of professionals at different stages in their careers, offer opportunities for networking and discussion, and sees the return of our popular recruitment panel. Speakers include: Janet Foster, an archivist with more than 25 years' experience in the field; Alex Hodge, an information manager working for a private estate; and Elisabeth Thurlow, a newly qualified archivist. Emily Hick, a qualified conservator with a range of experience including work overseas, will also feature on the recruitment panel.
