Archive Assistant (Storage Project)

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for someone with an interest in architectural history or archaeology to join one of the largest public archives of photographs and architectural plans in the UK. As part of a major accommodation reorganisation, this role will play an important part in documenting, rehousing and physically moving archive collections to another location

 

About Us

As Historic England we are the public body that looks after England`s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them. The Historic England Archive contains 12.75 million items of research material and historic images that support this work.

 

About the role

You will work with a wide variety of archive materials from 35mm photographic slides to large drawings. Your main duties will be to record these materials on Excel, put them into new packaging to ensure their preservation, and move them from one location to another.

 

About you

You will have a good standard of literacy and numeracy with grade C GCSE in English and Maths (or equivalent) as a minimum with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have a systematic and self-motivated approach to routine work combining accuracy and attention to detail with meeting agreed targets.
