The PUS ‘China in Focus’ Day

LSE, Department of Social Psychology, Q328, 11.00-18.00, 11th May 2016.

Chinais a large and diverse cultural space. It has lively discussions on science andpublic understanding of science, stimulated nationally by CAST (ChinaAssociation for Science and Technology), CAS (China Academy of Sciences), MOST(Ministry of Science and Technology) and in many provincial initiatives.

ThisPUS Focus Day of presentations and discussions will raise the awareness of PUSdiversity with doctoral and post-doctoral research currently conduced in theUK. While the conduct of science has become a global affair, scienceculture and the public understanding of science remain local matters. Thisday offers an opportunity to engage comparative benchmarking of similaritiesand differences in the people’s relationship to science as this is representedin various streams of observation and performance.
