Hi James,

Thanks for all the info. Unfortunately, the latest API still only offers look up. They said at the last project management day back in March that they were thinking of looking at – so I won’t hold my breath.

We have got time from a developer at ExLibris working with our IT team so hopefully they should be able to use all your info.

Thanks

Curwen

Curwen,

If ITEM renewal is possible via the SIERRA REST API then I strongly recommend doing it this way rather than the SIP2 method we use at Leeds.

Best,

James

Hi Curwen,

I think renewals are possible in the new Sierra REST API. If you’re on the latest version of Sierra you should have access to this.

Hi Curwen.

Emma is correct. Item renewals are possible from within campusM. Ombiel send a request to our custom-built RESTful API and this does the actual renewal  via the SIP2 interface in Sierra.

If your interested, DM me and I'll send you the code.

Hi Curwen,

We use the My Sierra API to feed into our University app (from CampusM) the details of what the patron has on loan but as you say it is read only.  I don’t know if at the moment III have any 2 way APIs to also allow renewals.  I do know that Leeds are doing renewals but they have done a lot of development work to create an API  to be able to do this.

Perhaps this is a topic to discuss further with III and other members at the conference in June? J

Regards,

Emma

Hi fellow EIUGers,

We are about to setup a feed from patron accounts to display in CampusM. I can see that using the Patron API allows users to have a look up feature of My Account – but we want to allow renewals.

Has anyone out there done this yet?

It doesn’t look like any of the API’s can do this so am I right in thinking we could do it using SIP2 instead?

Any helps/advice would be most welcome.

Thanks

Curwen
