Job Title: *Scotland’s Urban Past: Learning Officer* Organisation: *Historic Environment Scotland* Salary: *£22,389 p.a.* Type: Full-Time Position Contract: Fixed Term Appointment to 31 August 2019 Location: Edinburgh, Scotland Closing Date: Wednesday, May 18th, 2016 Job Ref No: HES/16/090 *Job Description:* Scotland's Urban Past is a five year nationwide community project that supports communities across Scotland to actively explore the rich architectural, social and personal histories of the towns and cities where they live, work or visit, in order to understand their distinctive characters and how they have changed over time. It aims to develop at least 60 local projects to investigate, record, engage with and celebrate the heritage of Scotland’s towns and cities across the breadth of the country. Participants include local groups already interested in their heritage, young people and groups who may not yet be involved in heritage activities. These groups are trained in activities such as active survey of buildings, archival research and oral history recording. Outputs from the project include new material gathered by participants being added to the National Record of the Historic Environment, Canmore [www.canmore.gov.uk], creative projects working with artists, and local and regional events.
