The LSE Centre for the Study of Human Rights is a trans-disciplinary centre of excellence for international academic research, teaching and critical scholarship on human rights. The Centre is a place for academics, policy-makers and practitioners to engage with robust academic research that strengthens knowledge, analysis and understanding of contemporary human rights issues, including social, economic and political issues related to human rights. The Centre currently engages in research related to global poverty and international human rights law, critical approaches to international law, human rights in the UK and Europe, warfare and military transformations, cosmopolitanism and the politics of solidarity, and philosophies of violence. The Centre gives space to international human rights issues that are little-explored, that may be unconventional, experimental or challenging, and which arise from diverse disciplinary traditions. Expressions of interest are now invited from potential postdoctoral researchers to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Individual Fellowship. The Centre for the Study of Human Rights welcomes expressions of interest in any international human rights research area. The Centre offers postdoctoral researchers an internationally recognized and unique research environment. Situated in the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), which is at sixth place in the Times Higher Education European University Top 200 Rankings, LSE is ranked the top university in the UK in its social science disciplines. Description of the MSCA Fellowship Program The purpose of the MSCA Individual Fellowship (IF) is to support the mobility of researchers and help attract promising foreign researchers to work in the European context (EU Member States and Associated Countries) or outside Europe. The grant typically covers two years' salary, a mobility allowance, research costs and overheads for the host institution. More information about MSCA Individual Fellowships is available at http://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions/about-msca/actions/if/index_en.htm Eligibility and Requirements Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in a social science or relevant humanities discipline, obtained before the MSCA IF deadline of 14 September 2016. Candidates are also expected to have good problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills, be fluent in English, have good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as within an international team. Candidates are required to read carefully the MSCA IF Guide for Applicants to ascertain eligibility, especially with regard to the mobility rules for each scheme. Applications Candidates are invited to express their interest no later than 16 May 2016 at 4.00 p.m. by providing a CV and an outline of no more than 1500 words of your research proposal and why the Centre for the Study of Human Rights is best suited to host your work. Proposals will be evaluated based on research quality, the researcher's future career prospects and the availability of suitable supervision.
