Our English department bought the books for them. Students then used them in the Examination. We only checked for written notes etc. I would speak to your colleagues in your English department. Pearson, for their GCSE English Language exam give one of the study books as 'Of Mice and Men' and in the qualification specification give the a version with an ISBN number. The question is, do my students have to buy that version of the book or can they buy any version - preferably cheaper, they are students - and as long as that copy is clean, with no study notes, can bring it into the exam?
