Call for Papers Interdisciplinary research with children, young people and families: crossing boundaries, sharing stories Wednesday 7th September 2016, University of Northampton, UK (Apologies for cross-postings.) Submissions are invited for an event which will explore the value and challenges of interdisciplinarity in research with children, young people and families in diverse contexts. Boundary-crossing research methods, projects, debates and collaborations are increasingly valued and fostered by research funders, and are increasingly understood to produce rich, impact-ful and important research, but can also cause interdisciplinary tensions and challenges. In these contexts we want to bring together researchers who have experiences of working with children, young people and families in ways which may... * involve collaboration between, or sit at the intersection of, one or more different academic disciplines (we wonder, what are the opportunities and challenges posed by collaborative engagements between different disciplinary identities, specialisms, habits and ways of thinking?) * require the development of innovative, or collaborative research methods or practices (what, for example, are the opportunities and challenges of fostering new connections between scientific, social scientific, participatory, creative, educational or playwork practices?) * necessitate interactions between different kinds of institutions ways or working (what, for example, are the keys to fostering effective, enduring working relations or forms of impact between academic researchers and practitioners working with children, young people and families?) * constitute new, interdisciplinary ways of thinking or writing about children, young people and families (what might these new concepts look like, where might they lead us, and what impacts might they have?) Contributions are welcomed from diverse perspectives, backgrounds, geographical contexts and disciplinary positions. We are seeking 20-minute papers, or 40-minute workshop activities.
