The 1st course on Cryo Electron Microscopy and 3 Dimensional Image Processing (CEM3DIP) of Macromolecular assemblies and Cellular tomography
July 2-13, 2016, at IISER Thiruvananthapuram, India.
The 1st Cryo Electron Microscopy and 3 Dimensional Image Processing (CEM3DIP 2016) school will be held at IISER Thiruvananthapuram (IISER-TVM) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. This is an extensive 11 day course that will be held from 2 July – 13 July 2016 at IISER-TVM (with a 1 day break, to chill out in the back waters and beaches of God’s Own Country).
The course will focus on structural biology using Transmission Electron Microscopy and aims to teach the participants the basic principles and practical aspects of Image processing and 3D reconstruction in Single Particle Cryo Electron Microscopy(SPCryoEM) and Cellular Tomography. This is a hands-on course/workshop, in which theory and practicals are tightly intertwined. The topics covered suits both who are new to the field as well as those who wants to acquire an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles and practical aspects. One of the speciality of this course is that, apart from PhD students and Post Docs, even Faculties/PI’s and protein crystallographers who wish to acquire knowledge in SPCryoEM are encouraged to apply. The basic format of the course will be theoretical lectures in the mornings followed by hands on practical session on computer workstations in the afternoon. Evenings will be reserved for poster presentations by the participants and if possible research talks by the participants/instructors.
