The 1st Cryo Electron Microscopy and 3 Dimensional Image
Processing (*CEM3DIP 2016*) school will be held at IISER Thiruvananthapuram
(IISER-TVM) in Thiruvananthapuram

an extensive 11 day course that will be held from 2 July – 13 July 2016
at IISER-TVM (with a 1 day break, to chill out in the back waters and
beaches of God’s Own Country <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerala>).
*The course* will focus on structural biology using
Transmission Electron Microscopy and aims to teach the participants the
basic principles and practical aspects of Image processing and 3D
reconstruction in Single Particle Cryo Electron Microscopy(SPCryoEM) and
Cellular Tomography. This is a hands-on course/workshop, in which theory
and practicals are tightly intertwined. The topics covered suits both who
are new to the field as well as those who wants to acquire an in-depth
understanding of the fundamental principles and practical aspects. One
of the speciality of this course is that, apart from PhD students and Post
Docs, even Faculties/PI’s and protein crystallographers who wish to acquire
knowledge in SPCryoEM are encouraged to apply. Student participants may
also be able to credit this course. For more information please contact

*The basic format of the course* will be theoretical lectures
in the mornings followed by hands on practical session on computer
workstations in the afternoon. Evenings will be reserved for poster
presentations by the participants and if possible research talks by the
participants/instructors.

convey that Biophysical Society bursaries are available now for subset of
selected applicants. Based on availability of other funds, more bursaries
can be provided. All registered participants have to present posters on
their research work.
