Peter, I don’t think concerns about the academisation (by some US and UK academic institutions) of avant-garde poetry resulting in the eventual monopolisation of how that poetry is practiced, discussed, disseminated and deemed “worthy” of publication and academic interest, can be dismissed as easily as you seem to be doing, by mentioning your man who lived in the woods and wrote poems on metal. 

Tim’s article, in particular, is a balanced appraisal of the situation, and I know he spent much time working on it. He mentions the negatives, true, but he also mentions the positives. It is by means of such a balanced approach, that an adult discussion can be prompted around the issue, rather than a dismissal, such as the one you have presented here.
