The Big Reveal: Showcasing collections made accessible by conservation.* *WHELF Special Collections Group / ARCW Conference

This showcase will demonstrate the significance and impact of conservation work on users and collections, including material conserved through the partnership between the National Manuscript Conservation
Trust (NMCT) and the Welsh Government since 2008. These, and other conservation projects undertaken, have enabled services to open up access to fascinating collections of a unique nature and great
significance.
This conference is an opportunity for us to celebrate these collections and to recognise the values they hold for a wide audience, including academics, researchers and the general public and to
reflect on the importance of well-planned conservation activity.
The Items conserved reflect the social, industrial, economic and geographical history of Wales. They include a wide variety of items, including maps, architectural drawings, cinema plans, minute
books and letters some of which are of iconic national importance; others are of immense significance to local communities. The conservation work has facilitated access and enabled these collections to be used for research, to be exhibited and digitised. The
conference will showcase the conservation work that has been undertaken on a number of these collections. The papers will also discuss the selection of items, the planning of projects and to consider and evaluate the impact that these conservation projects
have had on services, staff, volunteers and users.

Bydd yr arddangosfa hon yn dangos arwyddocâd ac effaith gwaith cadwraeth ar ddefnyddwyr a chasgliadau gan gynnwys deunydd sy'n cael ei gadw drwy'r bartneriaeth rhwng yr Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol
Cadwraeth Llawysgrifau (NMCT) a Llywodraeth Cymru ers 2008. Mae'r rhain, a phrosiectau cadwraeth eraill, wedi galluogi gwasanaethau i sicrhau bod casgliadau cyfareddol o natur unigryw ac arwyddocâd mawr ar gael i'r cyhoedd.
Mae'r gynhadledd hon yn gyfle inni ddathlu'r casgliadau hyn a chydnabod eu gwerthoedd i gynulleidfa ehangach gan gynnwys academyddion, ymchwilwyr a'r cyhoedd, ac i fyfyrio ar bwysigrwydd gweithgarwch
cadwraeth sydd wedi'i gynllunio'n dda.
Mae'r eitemau hyn yn adlewyrchu hanes cymdeithasol, diwydiannol, economaidd a daearyddol Cymru. Maen nhw'n cynnwys amrywiaeth eang o eitemau, gan gynnwys mapiau, lluniau pensaernïol, cynlluniau
sinema, llyfrau cofnodion a llythyrau. Mae rhai o bwys cenedlaethol eiconig; mae eraill o arwyddocâd mawr i gymunedau lleol. Mae'r gwaith cadwraeth wedi hwyluso mynediad at y casgliadau hyn ac wedi'i gwneud yn bosibl iddynt gael eu defnyddio at ddibenion ymchwil,
arddangos a digideiddio.
Bydd y gynhadledd yn arddangos y gwaith cadwraeth a wnaed ar nifer o casgliadau hyn. Bydd y papurau hefyd yn trafod y detholiad o eitemau, cynllunio prosiectau ac i ystyried a gwerthuso effaith
a gafodd hyn prosiectau cadwraeth ar gwasanaethau, staff, gwirfoddolwyr a defnyddwyr.
