NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority within the NHS, responsible for optimising the supply of blood, organs, plasma and tissues and raising the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of blood and transplant services.  A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Statistician in the Statistics and Clinical Studies team, tenable at NHSBT’s offices in Stoke Gifford, North Bristol.  The post is fixed term for a period of two years.

The Statistics and Clinical Studies team of NHSBT is responsible for the design and analysis of studies in organ and tissue donation and transplantation, blood donation and transfusion medicine. Our UKCRC registered Clinical Trials Unit is part of the team, and runs clinical trials in these areas.

This post is an opportunity for someone with a degree or postgraduate qualification in a statistical subject and some experience of using statistics in a medical environment to join a large, enthusiastic team of statisticians and become involved in extremely rewarding work using a broad range of statistical skills.  The post will involve collaborative work with clinicians and others working in organ transplantation, blood donation and haematology, and so the individual appointed will have excellent communication skills.  Experience in the design and analysis of clinical trials, and knowledge of the SAS software is desirable.  Part time working arrangements will also be considered.
