I would like to announce the following PhD scholarship at the University of Sydney, funded by the Australian Research Council.

Title: Interactive Driving Simulation Laboratory Postgraduate Scholarship

Description:
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for a suitably qualified candidate with a good degree in traffic engineering or transport planning to undertake research studies leading to a PhD. The project, funded by the Australian Research Council, is to investigate travel choice behaviour using interconnected driving simulators. This may include route choice behaviour, speed choice, lane choice, or parking choice behaviour in the context of travel time uncertainty, pricing or traffic management measures, and information provision. An important component is to develop new methodologies in interactive decision making as well as analyse results of experiments with the driving simulators. In this project you will work together with collaborators from the UK, the USA, and the Netherlands.

Eligibility:
Applicants should have a background in discrete choice theory and methods as well as transport planning or traffic engineering. Further, applicants should have a particular interest in setting up and conducting experiments with driving simulators. Applications are open to domestic and international students.

Amount awarded:
The scholarship is valued at $26,288 per annum (tax exempt) and may be renewed for up to three years, with a possible extension of 6 months, subject to satisfactory progress. Please note that the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students.

Application guide:
Further information can be obtained from Professor Michiel Bliemer, Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies, University of Sydney Business School, The University of Sydney (Phone: +61 2 9114 1840; Email: [log in to unmask]). Applications should be sent direct to Prof Bliemer at the above email address and should include a curriculum vitae, a copy of an academic transcript, and the names and contact details of at least two referees.
