Course for the
"Pattern Recognition in Neuroimaging Toolbox",
aka. PRoNTo
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to
announce the next PRoNTo(*) course at UCL, London,
UK, on May 23rd-24th, 2016.
This two-day
course will offer a comprehensive coverage of all
PRoNTo features and functionalities, including:
- introduction to
neuroimaging and machine learning concepts
- specific
pattern recognition methods for neuroimaging
- demonstration
and hands on session
The course will
also cover the new functionalities in PRoNTo
version 2:
- Multiple Kernel Learning (MKL) for
combining information from different brain
regions or neuroimaging modalities
- weights per region to help model
interpretation
- flexible and nested cross-validation
For further
information and registration, please see:
Sincerely,
J. Mourao-Miranda
and C. Phillips, on behalf of the PRoNTo team.

PRoNTo (Pattern
Recognition for Neuroimaging Toolbox) is a
software toolbox based on pattern recognition
techniques for the analysis of neuroimaging data.
Statistical pattern recognition is a field within
the area of machine learning which is concerned
with automatic discovery of regularities in data
through the use of computer algorithms, and with
the use of these regularities to take actions such
as classifying the data into different categories.
In PRoNTo, brain scans are treated as spatial
patterns and statistical learning models are used
to identify statistical properties of the data
that can be used to discriminate between
experimental conditions or groups of subjects, or
to predict a continuous measure/score.
