“Using the CMO Configuration to Synthesize Emergent Outcomes: A One-Day Intensive”

UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL,

LONDON CAMPUS:

33 FINSBURY SQUARE, LONDON.

Wednesday, April 20th, 2016

10:00am – 4:30pm: main workshop

5:00pm – 7:00pm: one-on-one consultations and quiet study. (Lunch will be provided).

Outcomes arising from complex interventions often take time to fructify, and can accrue over stages or through linked intervention components. In this workshop, participants will explore the CMO configuration and how it can be used in an analysis of emergent outcomes. Emergence is related to ‘the ripple effect’, whereby initial intervention mechanisms alter elements of context, which in turn produce outcomes of interest across a period of time. Participants will be asked to read Jagosh et al’s 2015 article (BMC Public Health) and will be encouraged to explore how this can be relevant to their work.
