Unless you want to generate a theory from the data – which involves an awful lot of work and is frankly beyond the expected outcome of a realist review – Boyatzis’ thematic analysis is ideal to uncover themes and identify relationship between them.
Here is a course I teach on it at the upcoming Winter School of the European Consortium for Political Research in Germany next Feb – see page 3, day 2.
Good luck!
Marie-Hélène

Subject: Approaches to analysing data for a realist review
Dear All
I'm in the middle of my realist review on the experiences of people with schizophrenia in subSaharan Africa.
I was wondering if there are specific approaches to analysing the data in a realist review. For instance can I use thematic analysis or grounded theory as a strategy to make sense of the data and generate theme.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely
Shep
