New Open Educational Resources (OER) Policies & Related Developments

Fiji approved a National Policy on Open Educational Resources. The purpose of the policy is “to provide direction in the use of open educational resources to increase access to and support quality learning and teaching in Fiji’s education and training system. In doing so, the policy seeks to strengthen commitment to OER by all concerned including the Government”.

The University of Edinburgh, Scotland, approved a new Open Educational Resources Policy. The Policy “encourages staff and students to use, create, and publish OERs to enhance the quality of the student experience, enhance the provision of learning opportunities for all, and improve teaching practices”. Read more about this policy here.

Institute for Open Leadership #2. Creative Commons hosted the second Institute for Open Leadership (IOL#2). A diverse group of fellows from 14 countries participated in IOL#2, March 14-18, 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. Read more about IOL#2 here.
