Interesting, what role were those paramedics undertaking?

I can see a role for paramedics undertaking in-house first aid training.
There is also a role for appropriately trained paramedics within health
surveillance such as Spirometry, Audio, HAVS. It would not surprise me if
some are acting as Case Managers in the very broadest sense of the term. I
would hope they would undertake a co-ordinating role gaining reports from
other professionals eg OHNs, physicians, physios, OTs as part of their case
management strategy. I would have concerns if a paramedic thought they could
undertake management referrals and develop return to work strategies without
the underpinning specialist OH knowledge.

We currently have a course which can be accessed by other health
professionals such as physios. In essence it is almost identical to the
SCPHN programme. My rationale for developing such a course is that by OHNs
sharing their learning with experiences with OTs, Phyios et al we all
benefit. Most of our students and graduates tell us that such shared
classroom learning provides a better insight into MSDs and rehab. Feedback
over several years indicates that this is more appropriate than shared
classroom learning with HVs and SNs.
