In my exprience the SD card can get corrupted inexplicably from time to time. So a few spare SDs ready-installed and an up-to-date disk image stored somewhere accessible may be a good idea. The one I’ve built boots automatically into a fullscreen browser and fetches the relevant page. Then it updates itself every 10 minutes via ajax.
