CILIP are pleased to announce a live webinar and short course on community-centred collections starting on 19 April

Community-Centred Collections: Inviting Participation, Building Impact

This online webinar and short course will engage participants in an exploration of the social roles of collections and what has made them valuable to scholars, teachers, students, and the public at large.

It starts with a live webinar on the 19th April, led by Karen Calhoun and Catriona Cannon, and will be followed by an online short course.

The course takes up the questions of why and how library, information, and knowledge professionals might re-invent collections as social, technology-rich platforms for sharing and contributing content, communicating and interacting, experimenting with new models of scholarship, and advancing knowledge. The course sessions, readings and learning materials will be based on an international perspective on collections and the context in which they are built and sustained

This webinar and online course support professional development in the following areas of the PKSB:

•             Collection management and development

•             Customer focus, service design and marketing

•             IT and communication, specifically, digital libraries
