Dear colleagues,

I would like to invite you to consider submitting a contribution to two workshops that I am co-organising.

-------------------------------------------
1. The first workshop is on Visually-Supported Computational Movement Analysis (VCMA2016) and is co-located with the AGILE 2016 (Association of Geographic Information Science Laboratories) conference in Helsinki in June.

For the workshop, we first call for submissions in any application area using any movement data type on:
   - new computational methods of movement analysis and
   - new visually-supported methods, as well as
   - empirical evaluations and applications of existing methods.

Second, we are organising a data challenge using open GPS seabird tracking data and call for both purely analytical and visually-supported solutions to address ecological research questions. Participation in data challenge is encouraged, but not required for workshop attendance.

The workshop will take place on 14 June 2016 in Helsinki, Finland. Submission DL for both the regular part and data challenge is 15 March 2016.

-------------------------------------------
2. The second workshop is on Understanding Spatial Data (Big and Small) with Visual Analytics (SpatialVA 2016) and is co-located with the GIScience 2016 conference in Montreal in September.

This workshop calls for new visual analytics methods and applications for spatial and spatio-temporal data which demonstrate the usefulness of these techniques for analytical reasoning about space and time. We are particularly interested in how interactive visualisations can support knowledge construction and insights from spatial data, either big or small. We call for submissions on the following topics of interest:
- New visual analytics methods for spatial or spatio-temporal data.
- Applications of using new or existing spatio-temporal visual analytics methods in any discipline.
- Evaluations of visual analytics approaches that help us understand how users apply such tools.
- Theoretical demonstrations and frameworks for visual support of analytical reasoning.
- Advances in knowledge construction and reasoning about spatial and temporal phenomena and processes.

The workshop will take place on 27 Sept 2016 in Montreal, Canada. Submission DL is 15 April 2016.

Please, forward this message to anyone else who might be interested and I hope to see some of you in Helsinki/Montreal.

Best regards,
Urska Demsar.
