Lynn,

Many years ago I phone AQA to ask about this and was told that it was extra time with Jam on!

The orange book says that the SENCO should give some indication to the length of a rest break.

I always encourage some activity and conversation (with the invigilator) during a rest break to ensure it is not extra thinking time. Most of our rest breaks need to be taken for a walk etc. due to back injury etc.

Subject: 25% Extra Time with Rest Breaks

Hi there. Can anyone give me some advice about applying both 25% Extra Time and Resat Breaks to a student's exam arrangements. I am a little uneasy about this as the student did not have rest breaks last year and this seems in this case an unfair advantage. Do you restrict the time of each rest break?
