Over the past 15 years Kitezh has hosted over 350 young people from the UK and other countries. Living with Russian families and interacting with the children is the most effective way of overcoming barriers to speaking the language! Many of our volunteers return again and again, and here is what a few of them have to say: "I have come to understand that I am being useful even when helping with seemingly the most insignificant of tasks. And in return, I have received not just an incredible insight into Russian culture, and countless language sessions, but, as clichéd as it may sound, I have also learned a lot more about life and myself." Jessica Fitch-Bunce, Cambridge University, Volunteer at Kitezh 2015 " Firstly, cost-wise Kitezh was brilliant because it was inexpensive compared with other language courses and it was nice that most of the money was going to the community. My Russian improved very quickly in such a short space of time which prepared me massively for the next part of my year abroad. If you are looking to improve your language skills then this is definitely the place. I am still in awe of how much more confidently I am speaking Russian now than when I first arrived in Kitezh."
