Dear all,

The University of York has a short fixed term maternity cover opportunity available for an Archives Assistant to join the team in the Borthwick Institute for Archives until 16 September 2016. This opportunity is full-time (37 hours per week, Monday-Friday) and we are looking for a suitable candidate who is available to start immediately.

This is an ideal opportunity for either a newly qualified archivist or an archives trainee looking to gain practical experience prior to undertaking a postgraduate course in archives and records management.

The job description is available at http://www.york.ac.uk/media/borthwick/documents/staff/Borthwick Institute - Archives Assistant (maternity cover) Direct Appointment.pdf.

If you are interested in applying for this opportunity, please send an up to date CV and covering letter stating how you meet the requirements of the role, to Jo Black ([log in to unmask]) by midnight on Monday 28th March.

A selection process and informal interview will take place. It is anticipated that interviews will be held on Monday 11 April 2016. Candidates will be informed whether or not they have been invited to attend interview on Monday 4 April.

For an informal discussion, please contact Amanda Jones, Archivist on 01904 321171 or by email: [log in to unmask]

Please note, this opportunity is being offered on a Direct Appointment basis to cover maternity leave. Direct Appointments can only be in place for a maximum of 12 months. If at the end of this temporary fixed term contract any further vacancy arises, this will need to be advertised in an open marketplace, and candidates would be welcome to apply through the usual channels.
