Dear Colleagues,

At Oxfordshire History Centre, we are looking for potential suppliers to provide web hosting of digital heritage content. We currently use a very localised and home-made system, where much of our digital content is made accessible to our public PCs from a server here at Oxfordshire History Centre, but the County Council no longer wants to store data itself, but rather to shift everything to web-based delivery, where a commercial supplier hosts digital content for us.

So, aside from Find My Past and Ancestry, what suppliers do you use to host your digital content for web-based public access? Is there anything you can tell us about your experience by way of costs, quality of contract, and type of technology used?

Many thanks,

Mark Priddey

Oxfordshire History Centre is open to the public on Tuesday 10.00am to 5.00pm and Wednesday to Saturday 9.00am to 5.00pm. It is advisable to contact us before visiting to check seat availability. If you wish to look at original records, you will need to register for a County Archive Research Network ticket by providing two passport-size photographs and official evidence of your address and signature (e.g. driver's licence or bank statement and credit/debit card). The ticket is valid for four years in about forty record offices around the country, and is a security measure to protect irreplaceable documents.

Oxfordshire History Centre maintains the historic material of the county for both legal and research purposes.
