Postdoctoral Statistician - Fixed Term for 3 years
Salary Range: £28,007 - £32,648 per annum
Cambridge

The MRC BSU is one of Europe's leading biostatistics research institutions. Working with Dr James Wason within the 'Design and Analysis of Randomised Trials' research theme in the MRC BSU, you will develop methodology relevant to the research programme 'Statistical methods for next-generation clinical trials'. In this research programme we are interested in developing methods for design and analysis of efficient clinical trials that use the increasing amount of routinely collected biological information effectively. In addition to methodology work, you will lead the analysis of a phase II biomarker-enriched trial assessing rituximab in patients with antibody-associated psychosis.

In addition to methodology development, you will publish papers in high quality peer-reviewed journals, disseminate your work at statistical and clinical conferences, and produce open-source software available that implements the methodology you develop.

You will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in statistics or related subject, and statistical computing experience, e.g. Programming in R or Stata. Some knowledge/experience of methodology for clinical trials would be desirable but not essential. You must have good communication skills and show potential to publish high quality scientific papers.

Starting salary will be in the range of £27,355-£32,648 per annum, supported by a flexible pay and reward policy, 30 days annual leave entitlement, and an optional MRC final salary Pension Scheme.

The MRC is a unique working environment where our researchers are rewarded by world class innovation and collaboration opportunities that the MRC name brings. Choosing to come to work at the MRC means that you will have access to a whole host of benefits from a final salary pension scheme and excellent holiday entitlement to access to employee shopping/travel discounts and salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme and childcare vouchers, as well as the chance to put the MRC on your CV in the future.
