Call for Submissions for a New Book Series
Sapientia Islamica - Studies
in Islamic Theology, Philosophy and
Mysticism
------------------------------------------------------------
Mohr
Siebeck is delighted to launch its new book series, Sapientia Islamica. As
interest in the formal intellectual legacy of the Islamic civilization burgeons,
a growing number of publications have shed light on the still very inadequately
mapped world of medieval and later Muslim intellectuals.
This new series
provides a platform for the latest and most innovative scholarly work in this
area. The series is keen to publish works which focus on Islamic theology,
philosophy and mysticism, as well as the interrelationship between these
disciplines, across the geographical spread of the Islamic civilization. In
particular, it is keen to publish works on the intellectual heritage of
geographical areas which are commonly overlooked. This series will also showcase
the current turn in Islamic intellectual historiography which recognizes the
inherent interest of thinkers who lived after the putative ‘golden age’ of
Islamic culture. Stretching and challenging older paradigms, the ongoing
liveliness and creativity of Muslim thought into the early modern and modern
period will be acknowledged.
Monographs, collections of articles,
conference proceedings, critical editions, and translations of primary sources,
will all be considered for inclusion in the series. The primary language is
English.
