JennyWith kind regards,Thanks though!Hi Bob,Yes I've read Luhrmann's work, but I'm looking for something that isn't Pagan/Witchcraft focused and that is more recent. I'm looking more for studies exclusively focused on ceremonial magicians or other esoteric groups.

There was some ethnographic discussion of British ceremonial magic groups in Tanya Luhrmann's _Persuasions of the Witches' Craft_, though her principal focus was on Pagan and Witchcraft groups.Bob

Hi Jenny,
Sure! Here are the links from my Academia.edu page, perhaps you will find them of interest. The second one does address the ethnographic study of Paganism within the wider framework of Esoteric Studies, where some of the methodological issues and concerns are still relevant.
I know there has been some interesting ethnographic work done in Freemasonry, which may also be useful. Here's one that looks fascinating.
All the best,Amy

Hi Jenny,
I wish there were more! I have written a couple pieces that address issues around ethnographic research in occult/esoteric groups that I am happy to share if you are interested.

JennyThank you Kateryna. Actually, I have Kennet Granholm's work on my reading list for my module 'Western Esotericism and New Religious Movements'. A question came up in class about ethnographic research on esotericism during a discussion about contemporary Pagan magical practices and I couldn't think of any other ones (apart from Granholm's)!All the best,
