The Department of Social Work, Care and Justice at Liverpool Hope University is hosting a major international conference in June 2016:

 

Children and Young People in a Changing World: Action, Agency and Participation

 

Keynote Speakers include: 

 

Mary Jane Kehily - Professor of Gender and Education in the Centre for Childhood and Youth Studies, Open University.

 

Jens Qvortrup - Professor of Sociology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology

 

Hasina Ebrahim - Professor of Early Childhood and Foundation Phase Education at University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa



Papers are invited that explore children's and young peoples' voices and/or challenge current policy and practice with regard to the following themes:

 

Educational policy and practice

Social exclusion and marginalisation

Social work policy and practice

Political action and social change

Children/young people in the family

Young people, risk and leisure

Childhood and youth in crisis

Youth work policy and practice


Abstracts of no more than 250 words should be submitted to Dr. Dave Merryweather at [log in to unmask] by 28th February 2016


Papers will be considered for publication in an edited book collection or, if relevant, for a special edition of the international journal Critical and Radical Social Work.


Abstracts should include a title and an outline of the central aims of the paper. Please also include the names of all authors/presenters and provide an indication of which theme the paper is related to.
