Excellent.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions.  I suspected it was veterinary, but couldn’t find anything quite the same on google images.

The enquirer will be pleased to have the mystery solved.

Hi Jill,

I know someone suggested a castrator which it could be, or pos. for dehorning?  I’ve just looked through Holborn’s surgical instrument catalogue for vets/large animals, nothing exactly like it so I’ve forwarded to our stockwoman.  Will let you know what she comes back with.

Best wishes.

Elaine

Dear All,

Someone sent in the attached photographs of ‘a pair of unusual nickel-plated snips’ for identification.  I’m sure I’ve seen something similar, but can’t quite place them.  Unfortunately our library is still packed away, so, in the absence of an accessible Salaman catalogue, I wondered if any of you could help?

Any ideas welcome.

Regards
